LT 3rd Gen & SAS 2nd Gen at Calico
Просмотров 12 тыс.4 года назад
A couple weeks ago we had a few hours to burn after our shock tuning appointment with King in Barstow (it was a good day!). So we decided to hit up Calico since it was just down the highway a few exits. Taylor (being relatively new to CA) had never been to Calico so we figured what better way to show him around than to do Doran loop in reverse. Because going up the shelf steps (“waterfalls” as ...
Spiker Engineering Montage

Just a fun video I made of my hood strut install... Leon at Spiker Engineering made it so easy, even a caveman can do it... one-handed, recording it on his phone. In under 30 minutes. In crocs and pajamas. Instructions are detailed, kit comes complete with every little thing you need, and the product itself is sweet. Get yours on sale on OPTOFFROAD.com, just sayin...
raw: ep.4 // Heart Attack Hill in a 3rd Gen 4Runner
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.4 года назад
Throwback to 2016, the first time we went down Heart Attack Hill on Pinyon Mountain Trail in Anza Borrego Desert. This spot is known for rollovers due to the steepness and off-camber stepdowns. Not really a technical spot, or even particularly entertaining, but here it is. Lol

Goals
CA near Palm Springs?
Yep Johnson Valley
Lol ur thumbnail is super misleading. Thought you were gonna send that. Oh well.
I love the those old Toyota squeaky noises Growing up in Latam in the late 90s I had many relatives with older Toyota models like 22r trucks and some older model 70 series LC and they all made those squeaky noises on rough terrain when off roading and it just brings some sort of nostalgia to me
Your sons a hard ass I love it
What kit on the 3rd gen
LT? It’s the BTF 4.5 kit
Just got me some radflo 2.5, I’m very excite!! love to see radflo on another rig
Dumb, those rocks are slippery and he didnt impress anyone
Is it hard to drive on the normal road ?
No it drives better than factory. Improved geometry will do wonders for driveability, on and off the road
Limit straps where?
Front and rear
How much did it cost (mods included)?
This truck has 15k+ in current mods, not including all the time and labor, but there are different levels you can take it to along the way
Too soft? Bad ass tho🙌🏾
Looking good man 🤘🏼
Is that sound deadening on the roof or something else?
Should get you back doing some videos lol
Definitely! Hoping we can change that soon ;)
Nice build, man.
I could be crazy but to me doesn’t it look like you need a longer bump stop? Looks like the shock maxes out before the bump even touches.
Must be perspective, yeah the bumps max out before the coilovers front and rear with a good half inch to spare
Did you need a longer cv axle?
Yes any time you extend the arms (LT) you have to extend the CVs with them
i was finally able to do this trail. I have watch this video many times and found out Miller Jeep looks totally differnt now lol
Damn this is awesome! Mind asking your speed via MPH?
Thanks! I don’t remember really but if I had to guess probably 30-60 in these clips. It looks slower than it is lol
Good try buddy
Mine has 1" of travel and rides like a dump truck 🤣
Mine retrofits do the same thing, passenger side too lol
Killer video 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Gonna need a bumper link for sure
Addicted Offroad, but mine doesn’t look much like how it came anymore haha
4wd??
Yes, the LT kit includes custom CV axles
If I was rich id get one
Yeah we worked really hard to get it. Def not rich though haha
Would you said relocating the shock makes it ride better in every scenario? Is there any scenario where it’s worse?
Yes, the OSR improves handling and performance in every scenario. There’s a reason they went with a vertically mounted, outboard shock after the 3rd Gen.. it was a mistake haha
I want to do this to mine I love 3rd gen 4Runners what engine are you running?
Carbon quarter panels go hard
Thanks 🙏 they’re steel that I painted a dark bronze
Sic you made home! 🤘
nice 4R, nice trail
What’s the max back spacing you can fit with the long travel? Would you be able to do 5.75in?
The first point of contact is the the uniball on the UCA, same as a non LT setup. 4.75 works but will slightly rub with a lot of tire flex (from hard hits etc), 4.5 is ideal. You can’t run 5.75 on these trucks with any setup
Thank you so much for the reply. What does it take to fit 37s in the front? Is just allot of tubing? Are there any clearance issues with the fiberglass fenders?
@@dalenjames5743 in combination with the LT there is a lot of work. The entire front clip has to be deleted and everything (battery, evap, cruise etc) all have to deleted or relocated as well. Fiberglass had to be trimmed up a couple inches to allow the tires to tuck
Beautiful… 👌
😍 I love it
SOOOoooo want the same setup. Awesome view and short!!!
Thx!!
I like before the rollover. That’s where I would’ve kept it
To each their own 👍
🌟 'Promo sm'
Hell yeah that thing rides smooth !! I can only imagine how well it’ll do with the outboard shock relocation kit !
Nice rig! im looking at the Long travel for my 3rd gen, Question what fenders are those?
Which long travel
Front is the BTF kit, rear is the FGP LT3, both paired with Radflos and all the reinforcement mods etc. All of it can be found on my site optoffroad.com
Nice work. Nice rig.
nice shot under the rig ! … good idea
Thanks!
Awesome! This is exactly what I want to do to my 90 Nissan Safari in San Diego. Let me know if you have any words of advice.
So, I do not have FB nor Instagram account, dont ask why. But I came here to express my very positive opinion of the Opt Offroad store and their products and their mechanical analysis. I purchased rear upper and lower control arms from them a couple months ago and I am very satisfied. I promised Jason that I would do that on social media, hence I am leaving my feedback here. You can honestly count on their honesty.
Looks like an excellent character building experience...
That’s one way to put it haha
I don't understand the mechanics of the loss of control. The engine stalled with the automatic trans in gear and it freewheeled backward with no resistance from the engine? I did not know what was possible.
Yes that pretty much sums it up. Same as when you push in a clutch on a manual transmission, you can roll freely while in gear. When the torque converter is not putting load on the transmission from the engine, there is nothing to prevent you from rolling
those jumps made it look like you landed on some clouds! so soft, sweet truck Jason :)
I am frustrated AF about never ending suspension problems with similar parts on my Expedition, and missing out on the desert season. Nice to know I’m not alone in putting in the work. Thanks man really appreciate the video.
Where is this at? It looks like the dunes near where I live.
Out near Johnson Valley
